Major road closed after motorcycle crash

A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries resulting in the partial closure of a major road after a crash.

It happened on the A127 Southend Arterial Road on the London-bound carriageway between Rayleigh Weir and the Fairglen interchange in Essex shortly before 08:00 BST.

No other vehicles were involved and the motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Officers said the carriageway remained closed but they were working to reopen it as soon as possible.
