What you need to know about Tramlines 2026

Now in its 17th year, Tramlines Festival returns to Sheffield at the weekend with big name headliners hitting the stage - among them Fatboy Slim, Courteeners and Wolf Alice.

Other notable acts that will be performing in front of 40,000 music fans in Hillsborough Park include Kaiser Chiefs, Blossoms and Gabrielle.

The festival, which runs from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 July, will also have comedy acts and a free Fringe event in Sheffield city centre.

There are two entrances to the Tramlines Festival, via Penistone Road and Middlewood Road.

Gates will open on Friday 24 – Sunday 26 July from 12:00 BST with last entry at 19:30 BST.

Headline acts will finish at 22:15 BST on Friday and Saturday and at 21:15 BST on Sunday.

No readmission to the site is permitted once people leave the park.

South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and Tramlines recommend travelling to the festival via public transport as there is no on-site parking or on surrounding residential roads.

Mayor Oliver Coppard said: "We're making it even easier this year for people to get there and back - we've got extra trams running when it's busiest, and we're trying out some new ticket offers too.

"From Friday 24 July to Sunday 27 September, two new £10 tram offers (a one-day group ticket and a weekend individual ticket), valid across all Supertram services, will be available to help customers make the most of tram travel for less over the summer.

"During the festival from Friday to Sunday from 11:00 BST until approximately 18:00 BST, trams will run from the city centre up to every six minutes serving Hillsborough Park and Leppings Lane tram stops - located close to the venue, and Hillsborough tram stop, which is a five-minute walk to the park."

Other changes to the Supertram for Tramlines:

Blue route services will run every 12 minutes and terminate at Middlewood instead of Malin Bridge.

Purple route services will be extended beyond Cathedral to Malin Bridge, with more frequent services.

Both Tram Train services and Yellow route services will run as normal but the Tram Train service will finish later than normal on Sunday.

After the festival tram services will run from Leppings Lane towards the city centre and beyond but will not service the tram stops between Leppings Lane and Shalesmoor for Kelham Island.

Festivalgoers leaving the event will be directed out of the park via a dedicated Supertram exit to Leppings Lane tram stop. A queueing system and ticket checks/sales will be in place to direct customers, help to keep people safe, and speed up the boarding process to avoid any issues.

Sheffield City Council has confirmed that the following roads will be closed after the event each night, from around 9:30 BST to 10:30 BST:-

Holme Lane (Walkley Lane to Middlewood Road)

Langsett Road (Middlewood Road to Ripley Street)

Middlewood Road

Owlerton Green

Penistone Road (northbound)

Bradfield Road to Parkside Road

For other roads surrounding Hillsborough Park, only residents will be able to park on them. The residents' parking scheme will be in place from Friday to Sunday.
