Edinburgh's summer festival season got underway this weekend with the Festival Carnival.

More than 800 people took part in the multi cultural event which is organised by the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival.

This years parade had a revised route, bypassing Princes Street following a fire at a former department store.

The 100 concerts taking place over the next week include a celebration of jazz from the Netherlands and a tribute to Edinburgh pianist Brian Kellock.
