Doncaster CouncilEight people were arrested after two suspected illegal gambling venues in Doncaster were raided.
Officials said two unlicensed premises were targeted in an operation codenamed Operation Snaresbrook.
The raids involved the Gambling Commission, Immigration Enforcement, South Yorkshire Police and City of Doncaster Council's trading standards and licensing teams.
One person was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Gambling Act 2005, with seven others arrested for alleged immigration offences, City of Doncaster Council said.
A council spokesperson said during searches of the properties, officers seized almost £9,000 in cash and recovered evidence of illegal gambling activity, including poker tables, slot machines and account books.
When asked by the BBC about the date of the operation and the locations of the raided premises, the spokesperson said they would not comment on "ongoing investigations".
