DFDS services to France and UK 'up by 21%'

A ferry company that services Jersey is taking more passengers to and from the island than it was a year ago, bosses say.

DFDS said there was more demand from both the UK and France, with its fast ferry from Poole increasing from 8,572 passengers to 10,407, an increase of 21%, and services to France rising from 20,470 to 22,113, compared to the June prior.

Last year, the company was facing criticism from politicians and passengers over late and cancelled services, with ministers saying it had to improve.

Route director Chris Parker said he was very encouraged by the changes DFDS had made to better its services.

He said: "We are very encouraged by the growth recorded on our Poole and St Malo services, while passenger numbers on the Portsmouth route have remained steady.

"These figures suggest that customers continue to value the choice, reliability and range of services we provide, including high-speed connections to the UK and France alongside our conventional overnight service to Portsmouth."
