Boy, 14, charged over city centre stabbing

A teenager has been charged following a stabbing in Nottingham city centre.

Nottinghamshire Police said a 25-year-old man was attacked in Angel Row at about 15:15 BST on Friday and taken to hospital.

A 14-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged over the incident and also charged after a man was punched during an attempted robbery of an e-bike in Upper Parliament Street earlier the same day, police said.

The boy appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Monday and was remanded in custody until his next hearing on 27 July, the force said.

He has been charged with committing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife in public in relation to the Angel Row attack, as well as assault, two counts of assault on a police officer, and criminal damage at the Queen's Medical Centre following his arrest.

Det Ch Insp Claire Gould said the stabbing victim's injuries were not as serious as "first feared and we wish him a speedy recovery".
