A 50-year-old man has appeared before a judge charged with murdering a security guard at a shopping centre.

Gary Stanley, 52, died on 28 February after he was stabbed at Centre:MK in Milton Keynes.

Rory Wilson, of St Lawrence Road South in Towcester, Northamptonshire, appeared at Aylesbury Crown Court via a video link from prison.

He did not enter any pleas and Judge Jonathan Cooper said he would reconsider the case later this year. He was remanded back in custody.

The judge discussed legal issues with lawyers representing the prosecution and Wilson.

He said he wanted to be given more information about Wilson.

Cooper said he aimed to stage a further preliminary hearing on 6 November - and set a provisional trial date of 11 January 2027.

Stanley lived in Milton Keynes and members of his family were at the hearing.

Wilson, who has also been charged with possessing a bladed article in a public place, spoke only to confirm his name.
