Police appeal after teen killed in hit-and-run

Police are seeking help to trace the driver of a large white van after a teenager died in a hit-and-run crash in Guildford.

The crash happened on the A3 southbound at about 23:15 BST on Friday, near the junction with Wilderness Road.

The 19-year-old man died at the scene, and his next-of-kin have been informed.

Police said: "We are seeking to trace the driver of a large white van, which did not stop at the scene.

"Our inquiries are moving at pace, and we would like to speak to them as a matter of urgency regarding this incident."

Surrey Police said the A3 was shut southbound overnight from the cathedral slip road to the junction with the A31. The road has since reopened.
