Murder inquiry launched after father shot in head

A murder investigation has been launched after a father who was shot in the head in Bradford died from his injuries.

Mohammed Hasan, 28, died on Sunday after he was seriously injured on Gaythorne Road, at the junction of Parsonage Road, in West Bowling on the evening of 8 July.

West Yorkshire Police said they still wanted to trace 24-year-old Luqman Khan from Bradford, who is wanted in connection with the investigation. Khan is believed to have travelled to Suffolk and was thought to be in the Ipswich or Felixstowe areas, a force spokesperson added.

Hasan's family described him as a "loving husband, father, son and brother" and urged anyone with information about his death to contact police.

In a statement, Hasan's family said he was "the life and soul of every room he'd walk into".

They added: "He will be missed by all his family and the community."

"Life is often overlooked and communities need to come together to make sure nothing like this happens again."

West Yorkshire Police said nine people had now been arrested in connection with the shooting, which took place at about 23:00 BST, with Hasnain Akhter, 21, of Tichborne Road charged with attempted murder and remanded in custody.

A further three people had been detained on suspicion of attempted murder, with five others arrested on suspicion of assisting and offender.

All of the remaining suspects have been released on bail.

Det Ch Insp Dan Bates, the senior investigating officer in the case, described the attack on Hasan as a "horrific act of violence".

He added: "We are determined to get justice for him and his family and need people to put aside any misplaced loyalties and think about how they would feel if it was their husband, their son, their brother."
