Well that will help England's cause. A wild bouncer from Gurnoor Brar goes to the rope for five wides. A leaping Ishan Kishan was at full stretch trying to stop that but could only parry it.

Will Jacks finally gets off the mark, exchanging four singles with Joe Root, who's into the 60s.

Root turns the final ball of the over to the rope.

He's not quite in the Kohli league but Joe Root does churn out the hundreds in this format. He has 20 in his career... Kohli has 54.

With the injuries India have picked up during the last two games, they kind of need to win today because they will be depleted in the third game.

Axar's delivery to dismiss to Buttler was the slowest and fullest of the seven balls Axar bowled to Buttler today.

That was a strange shot by Jos Buttler - he has played 201 ODIs and he swung across the line when he just needed to knock it around with Joe Root. It's turning into a good game though.

  14. Eng 130-5published at 27 overs

Gurnoor Brar is welcomed back into the attack with a boundary, Joe Root picking up four through third and whirling his bat around his head in his follow-through.

Root also adds a single to his tally but Will Jacks is frustrated, twice picking out Axar Patel between point and gully and then swinging and missing at a zippy bouncer.

Axar made an excellent diving stop to his right to halt a Jacks rocket.

At 76 balls, this is Joe Root's third-slowest ODI half-century in terms of balls faced behind a 78-ball half century against Sri Lanka in Leeds during the 2019 World Cup and a 79-ball fifty against Australia in Adelaide in 2014.

Game after game when there is a gettable score to get batsmen play with little understanding of how to win a match. Only Joe Root plays with a mature understanding of the game. He must be fed up of being surrounded by gamblers.

Joe Root being Joe Root again I see. Legend.

Can Will Jacks support Joe Root through this chase?

Jos Buttler won't be happy with that shot because the ball didn't do much. He missed it completely.

Axar Patel came in from a different end, Buttler just misses a straightish delivery. He'll be disappointed with that.

Bowled him! Buttler goes for a big shot but misses it.

India strike and are still alive in this game.

You feel every time England get ahead, India take a wicket. The game is back in balance.

Thanks Mike. Well, well, what an introduction!

I was feeling slightly deflated after Jasprit Bumrah's no ball denied me a return with the score on 123-4 but I suppose a bit of wicket drama is sufficient compensation.

Jos Buttler, swinging for the hills, is bowled by a straight delivery from Axar Patel.

Will Jacks walks out with 109 runs needed from 24.2 overs.
