Ayr have two wins out of two in Group G

Scottish Premiership Falkirk were on the receiving end of a shock result as Kevin Holt earned second-tier Ayr United a victory away to John McGlynn's men in the Premier Sports Cup.

Ayr moved three points clear at the top of Group G with Holt using his head to divert the ball past Nicky Hogarth on the half-hour mark after Reece Lyon had played it forward.

The Bairns had the chance to level with five minutes left after Kenzie Mitchell had tripped Ethan Ross in the box but Ross McIver's penalty was saved by Harry Stone.

Edinburgh City also have three points after securing their first win in the group, 2-0 at home to Alloa Athletic.

Falkirk continue their group campaign away to Alloa next Tuesday.
