Bianca Andreescu, speaking after the match said: "Tennis can give all sorts of surprises.

"We were both dealing with different things today.

"I have always had tough matches against her and I wasn't expecting anything easy regardless of what was going on.

"I'm super happy with my focus, especially towards the end, and also with the heat, I'm glad it calmed down a little bit towards the end. It wasn't easy."

Bianca Andreescu was flying in the beginning of the second set winning five games on the bounce before Jil Teichmann struck back, but it was too late to save the set.

This has been an unbelievable turnaround for Andreescu though! We go into a deciding set.

Bianca Andreescu believes that it is not possible to "really prepare yourself " to win a Grand Slam.

"I don't think it's possible to really prepare yourself [for a Grand Slam victory], especially if you haven't gone through that before, but I wish I had a little bit more guidance after the US Open," the 25-year-old told BBC Sport, back in May.

"You think you know everything at 19, and I just remember I'm not one to ever ask for help, but I am a little bit better at that now. So maybe if I did, things would have been different."

Her current coach Dusan Vemic added: "She had to grow up fast from a carefree teenager to a young woman that she is now.

"You have a different outlook, different points of view on challenges or fun stuff.

"Being a tennis player, being an athlete, you suddenly have a different role. You become a role model for many youngsters."

The last match of the day on centre court will see former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu take on Jil Teichmann.

At the start of 2026 Andreescu, decided to return to an environment where she hadn't played since 2018, swapping life on the WTA Tour for that on the ITF.

The tournament rankings work from W15 - the lowest level - up to W100. Andreescu was competing in W35 and W75 editions, with the total prize pot for a W35 tournament about £26,000.

The make-up of the ITF tour tends to be youngsters who are trying to make their mark on the sport, women who were unable to break on to the WTA Tour or players who are using it to regain previous form.

We will soon find out if she has regained her previous level for a Wimbledon charge.

Jaime Faria on if he enjoyed the match: "Of course. How can I not playing like this, with this weather. Of course on grass it is always special.

"I have been playing well in Roehampton, last year as well.

"So I'm just enjoying and staying fit. Tomorrow is five sets, and I'll be ready."

These two are definitely here to play!

Faria took it 6-4, and if that opener was anything to go by, the second set will be just as thrilling!

After his second-round qualifying defeat, Dan Evans has been speaking about his decision to retire after Wimbledon: “[On] Monday I think I played my first round and it was a little difficult. There were some strange thoughts going through my head, but today I was good.

"I have been thinking about [his retirement] for a long time, so I had plenty of time to get my head around it. I’m happy with my decision as I knew it was time. I’m really looking forward to what’s next.

"I thought I played pretty well today but Tristan [Schoolkate] was too good."

Second seed Jaime Faria, 22, takes on 26-year-old Frenchman Luka Pavlovic on centre court.

Kayla Day speaking after the match: "I'm super excited to be in the final round of qualifying for the first time.

"I thought that I played really well today, and Erika is a very good player and it was tough.

"I thought that I served and returned very well, and every time I thought I had an opportunity to come forward, I did, and I put a lot of pressure on her because she is super tricky."

Kayla Day produces a solid performance to clinch the second set and beat Erika Andreeva 6-2 6-2.

It means the American progresses to the final round of Wimbledon qualifying for the first time.

Andreeva was unable to turn it around, and it quickly became a very comfortable win for Day, who was superb throughout.

Kayla Day has set the standards so far in this opening set.

She won the first five games with ease, until Erika Andreeva started to find her feet, however by then the damage had already been done with Day going on to win that first set 6-2.

Andreeva, 22, is the older sister of French Open winner Mirra Andreeva.

Tristan Schoolkate on Dan Evans: "It wasn't an easy match up.

"I think Dan is a phenomenal player. I wish him all the best, after his career. I looked up to guys like him for a long time.

"So much of the tennis nowadays is same old, same old, but watching him dink it around, his slice is amazing and he's a great competitor. So many young kids can learn a lot from Dan."

Dan Evans will not be playing singles at this year's Wimbledon as his qualifying campaign ends in the second round with a 7-5 6-0 defeat by Tristan Schoolkate.

Evans is set to retire from tennis after this year's Championships, but he will still be competing at Wimbledon as he has a men's doubles wildcard with Henry Searle.
