  1. Belgian GP build-up from 13:00 BST on Sundaypublished at 17:08 BST 18 July

Another pole position tyre award added to teenager Kimi Antonelli's collection this season. The Mercedes driver will start his Belgian Grand Prix alongside four-time world champion Max Verstappen tomorrow, hoping he can stay ahead of the Dutchman and take the chequered flag for a sixth time.

Antonelli needs to get back in the points after a disappointing run of late following his five straight wins earlier in the campaign. He's 25 points clear of team-mate George Russell in the drivers' championship, with the Briton promoted to the second row in P3 because of Lando Norris' penalty.

It's a long old lap at Spa-Francorchamps, so anything could happen. The weather is looking dry as it stands, so slippery conditions shouldn't play a factor in the race action. But never count out the rain completely at this circuit.

We'll be back from 13:00 BST to build-up to the 44-lap race.

    Lights out is at 14:00.

    See you then!

  3. 'Team are working so hard to find out what it is' - Russellpublished at 17:04 BST 18 July

Mercedes' George Russell, who will start Sunday's race in third because of Lando Norris' grid penalty, speaking to Sky Sports about his deficit to team-mate Kimi Antonelli on the straights: "Coming out of Silverstone, we thought it was in the driving style of technique. But we finally concluded it is not.

"We have changed everything, it is four tenths in the straights in Q3. It is frustrating. Every single lap I've come in this weekend seeing anywhere from two tenths to four tenths. In FP2 yesterday it was seven tenths.

"The team are working so hard to understand what it is. We saw it as early as Austria, we saw signs but we always thought that there was a reason. Sprint qualifying in Silverstone, we saw three and a half tenths loss. We thought we found the problem. We keep going through this process of 'we think it's this, we're changing it, oh it's not this'. I thought it was the driving style, changed the driving style, it is not that. The team are working so hard to find out what it is.

"Anything can happen, the truth is the battle against my team-mate, who is such an incredible driver, who is doing such a great job at the moment, in the best of times is a tall order. But I feel confident head-to-head I can achieve it."

  4. 'We're going to give absolutely everything to try and catch Mercedes' - Hamiltonpublished at 17:00 BST 18 July

Lewis Hamilton speaking to Sky Sports: "The boys did a mega job to fix my damage after FP3. The car was feeling amazing in FP3 and I was confident that we, not fighting for pole because Mercedes are too fast, but we definitely could probably be third or something with the car we had in FP3. I was missing a couple tenths once I got to quali, the car wasn't identical to what we had in quali but I did the best I could with what I had."

On where Ferrari are lacking compared to Mercedes: "I'm not quite sure, definitely in the last sector we seem to lose the most and that is pure grunt and a little bit in sector one. They're just fast. It's to be expected at this track, we expected them to be very, very fast and they are everywhere, just in qualifying they seem to have that bit extra than anyone else. I think we can go forwards tomorrow and we're going to give absolutely everything to try and catch them up."

  5. 'The yellow flag was too visible on track' - Leclercpublished at 16:56 BST 18 July

    Charles LeclercImage source, Getty Images

Charles Leclerc speaking to Sky Sports after qualifying P5: "I think this is a lot more in line with what we expected at Silverstone and here. Silverstone was a bit of a standout weekend, here it's not and here it's a bit more the way we expected it. I'm a bit disappointed with that last lap because there was a yellow flag that was supposed to be for the pit entry but that was too visible in my opinion on track, it was very much in the middle. That probably cost me one position, I wouldn't have done a crazy better lap time and the half a second was still there, but one position would have been possible.

On where the gap to Mercedes is: "I think it's just raw power. They are just on the better side of things and we are pretty strong on the grip and they're strong on the power. However, they were very strong in the corners as well, they just have a very strong package at the moment and we have to focus on maximising what we have."

  6. 'It's going to be fun tomorrow' - Antonellipublished at 16:52 BST 18 July

More from Mercedes polesitter Kimi Antonelli on what he needs to convert pole position to a race win: "A good start, and try to have good pace. Degradation is going to be very big, but we’ll try our best in order to maximise the performance. It’s going to be fun tomorrow. Thanks for everyone coming this weekend, it is amazing seeing you all."

  7. 'I've been happy all weekend' - Norrispublished at 16:48 BST 18 July

    Lando NorrisImage source, Getty Images

McLaren's Lando Norris qualified third but will start the race in 13th because of a 10-place grid penalty: "We've not really changed anything, we are just a bit quicker on this track. It is nice to be standing here, it is not nice knowing I have to go 10 places back tomorrow. It is unfortunate that it is not where we will be starting tomorrow because it would be nice to have a little fight with these guys but we made the most of it.

"It was a very good qualifying, a very good lap for me. Honestly I have been pretty happy all weekend, it is a little bit of a home race for me so it is a little boost here. I've performed well all weekend so far. So hopefully we can still have a good race tomorrow and have some fun.

"That's certainly the plan [to fight through the grid]. I don't know how far we will get but the car is performing well and good enough for P3, we will see there is plenty of opportunities and hopefully we can put on a bit of a show for everyone."

  8. 'I will do my best and see if we can hang in there or not' - Verstappenpublished at 16:43 BST 18 July

    Max VerstappenImage source, Getty Images

Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who starts on the front row in P2 : "[The tow from Isack Hadjar] was definitely helping me otherwise I would not be standing here. I would be like P6 or something.

"Isack today, knowing that he had to star at the back of the grid, he did a really good job giving me a tow in the final sector and that's why we're standing here.

"For sure tomorrow, I'll be looking in my mirrors for the people around me but at least today we had a really good result. I think the car has been decent all weekend, of course not on the level of Kimi, but we're happy of course to be on the front row with how we executed this as a team.

"It's always tough around here with the tyres in the long run but I will just do my best and see if we can hang in there or not."

  9. 'Tomorrow is another day' - Antonellipublished at 16:37 BST 18 July

Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli who will start the Belgian Grand Prix on pole: "Are you half Belgian? [he asks Max Verstappen]. It's great to be on pole. It was not a very straightforward session, the track changed a lot. We are able to improve lap by lap and to bring home pole which was nice but of course tomorrow is another day, I have Max starting next to me so it is going to be important to get a good start and then try to be ahead into Turn Five.

On how proud he is of his lap: "The last lap was good, I improved a lot in sector two especially so it was a nice lap. Of course there was still a little bit here and there but it was very clean so I am happy with that."

Aston Martin's troubles have been well publicised but seeing them nearly five seconds behind Q2 pace and three seconds behind a year-one team in Cadillac shows just how far behind they are. How did they get it so wrong?

Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli takes pole position for Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix!

The championship leader will share the front row with four-time title winner Max Verstappen at Spa-Francorchamps, with George Russell now third after Lando Norris' grid penalty is applied.

Norris is still going to take part in the post-qualifying interviews, though.

Arvid Lindblad grabbed seventh but his pushed down by the McLaren of Oscar Piastri. Lando Norris can only manage third on his final run, but the world champion won't stay there because of his grid penalty. Norris had a trip onto the gravel at the same spot as Lewis Hamilton and Pierre Gasly.

    Norris will start P13.

  17. Antonelli takes polepublished at 16:11 BST 18 July

Max Verstappen is right behind Isack Hadjar and the tow is about to be executed. It's not as clean as maybe Red Bull would've liked, but the Dutchman still goes onto provisional pole.

But he's beaten by Kimi Antonelli! The championship leader beats the Red Bull driver by 0.317 seconds!

The drivers have got to get the tyres in absolutely the right window and we are not just talking of the surface of the tyre. That heat and temperature has got to be perfect both for the core and the surface.

The Audi of Gabriel Bortoleto is piggy-in-the-middle of the two Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell. Isack Hadjar is the first of the 10 cars to start his final lap, but he'll be heading right to the back of the grid on Sunday.

The session has resumed but the fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see any cars on track. Every team wants the best position for these final runs, and it looks like Isack Hadjar has gone out ahead of Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen again.

Lando Norris is the last man to join the track, behind McLaren buddy Oscar Piastri.
