A single for Luc Benkenstein and up comes the Essex 50 but at some cost.

    WICKET - WHAT A CATCH!published at 4.4 overs

    J Rew c Bess b H Ali 1 (Somerset 26-3 v Yorkshire 161-9)

Catch of the season for Yorkshire?!

Sensational from Dom Bess against his old side.

Scrambling square from close, straight midwicket, he makes brilliant ground then sticks out a left mit.

Words do not do it justice, superb.

Somerset also lose three in the powerplay then!

  4. Postpublished at 6 overs

    Hants 211-3 v Essex 49-3

Scott Currie's first over goes for 18 runs - all for Charlie Allison.

    That ends the powerplay.

  5. Postpublished at 3 overs

    Notts 163-6 v Surrey 15-0

This is very different from the usual slab of concrete the Surrey batters enjoy at The Oval and they are going to have to work harder for their runs.

But Laurie Evans unfurls a super cover drive off Binura Fernando for his first four of the innings.

Evans then backs away and tries to hit the Sri Lanka left-armer over mid-on.

Fernando gets a hand to it but it's impossible to catch and instead he needs treatment for a painful blow.

He manages to bowl the last ball of the over and he's quick to move his hand when Jason Roy knocks one past him.

  6. 6 runs

    Postpublished at 5.4 overs

    Hants 211-3 v Essex 45-3

Charlie Allison clears his front leg out of the way and dumps Scott Currie into the empty seats.

A good strike but Essex need a lot more of that.

  7. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 5.2 overs

    Hants 211-3 v Essex 37-3

Charlie Allison skies one but Delano Potgieter cannot hold on.

Allison smacks the next ball for four.

  9. Postpublished at 5 overs

    Hants 211-3 v Essex 31-3

Only six runs from Chris Wood's third over.

The Essex big guns of Paul Walter, Michael Pepper and Jordan Cox are all back in the hutch.

They are going to need their youngsters like Charlie Allison and Luc Benkenstein to play the innings of their lives.

The required run rate is over 12 now as on comes the tournament's second-top wicket taker, Scott Currie.

  10. 'Baker's taken three big wickets'published at 18:20 BST 15 July

    Hants 211-3 v Essex 24-3

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Sonny Baker's picked up all three wickets now.

Paul Walter, Jordan Cox and Michael Pepper. They're three big wickets at the top of the Essex order.

That's why you have somebody in your armoury that bowls quick. Sometimes it can go for a few runs, the batters using the pace.

    Banton c Lyth b Tye 1 (Somerset 18-2 v Yorkshire 161-9)

Tom Banton is surprised by a bit of bounce which he nearly plays on or through his legs.

Next ball he flashes at a wide one from AJ Tye, well held high by Adam Lyth at first slip.

James Rew joins Will Smeed in the middle.

  12. Postpublished at 2 overs

    Notts 163-6 v Surrey 7-0

It's spin straight away for Notts at the other end as George Linde's slow left-armers are given a twirl.

A fine punch off the back foot from Jason Roy produces the first boundary of the innings, but apart from that, it's a decent containing over.

  13. Postpublished at 4 overs

    Hants 211-3 v Essex 25-3

Essex are in all sorts of trouble.

They have plenty of time but only seven wickets in hand.

Maybe they can get back in time for that 8pm kick-off?

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.3 overs

    Pepper c Albert b Baker 6 (Hants 211-3 v Essex 24-3)

Sonny Baker is having a day out.

The umpire and Hampshire think Michael Pepper has gloved one through to Toby Albert.

The Essex batter does not look happy but has to go.

Three wickets to England paceman Baker as Luc Benkenstein is the next man in.

  15. Postpublished at 2 overs

Somerset 12-1 chasing 162 to beat Yorkshire

George Hill cuts Tom Banton in half with his last ball, but Jonny Bairstow's caught behind appeal is not convincing.

  16. Surrey begin replypublished at 1 over

    Notts 163-6 v Surrey 1-0

Pakistan left-armer Mohammad Amir with the ball in his hand.

And this mercurial bowler shows all his wily craft with a fine over as Jason Roy's single is all Surrey have to show for it.

  18. Postpublished at 3 overs

    Hants 211-3 v Essex 19-2

The required run rate is more than 11 per over.

  19. wicket

    Jansen lbw b Harrison 0 (Glos 128-8 v Northants)

Calvin Harrison celebrates his recent new contract by getting two in two.

He secures an lbw verdict against Duan Jansen.

No hat-trick for Harrison but he'll be happy enough.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 1.1 overs

    T Rew c van Beek b Hill 1 (Somerset 8-1 v Yorkshire 161-9)

    Tom Banton in at three.
