It's always great to see a special young talent emerge - just think of IPL prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

Today it was the turn of 18-year-old Thomas Rew to demonstrate the potential Somerset think he has with a maiden first-class century against Division One leaders - and reigning champions - Notts no less.

Sussex, meanwhile, notched their fourth win of the campaign against Glamorgan and there were wins in Division Two for Durham and Kent, for whom Hasan Mahmud marked his debut with 6-69.

We'll be back with coverage of the five remaining games from 10:30 tomorrow with some potentially exciting finishes in store..

Repent! The end of days are here! Kent have gone four County Championship fixtures without defeat. The end is nigh!

For balance in the England team, Coles should be in, to replace Stokes. That then gives the option of an extra seamer. He’s a better bowler than the stats show!

  4. Close of play at Northamptonpublished at 18:41 BST 14 June

    Northants 465 v Gloucs 268 & 264-7 (f/o)

Calvin Harrison to send down the final six balls of day three.

Daz Ahmed nudges into the legside to pick up a couple more runs and takes his tally to 28. And that's a wrap.

Gloucestershire fans may have feared an innings defeat at points today, but the visitors have dug in well to take the game into the final day.

James Bracey has been instrumental in that and goes to the close unbeaten on 75, with his side 67 runs in front.

Northants need three more wickets before chasing and have just one more over to go before being offered the potentially decisive second new ball.

  5. Close of play at Worcesterpublished at 18:36 BST 14 June

    Worcs 265 & 33-2 v Middx 339 & 283-6 dec

Middlesex have been ahead throughout this match and will remain favourites to win the game going into the final day.

They had a big boost before the close when spinner Zafar Gohar came in for one over and claimed the wicket of Dan Lategan.

Worcestershire had been battling well after being give 14 overs to face but suffered the blow of Jake Libby being run out backing up when Toby Roland-Jones deflected the ball onto the stumps.

Captain Du Plooy dominated the Middlesex innings taking advantage of being given a life on 26 to go onto an unbeaten century before declaring.

The target of 358 looks a long way off for Worcestershire and Middlesex will be confident of taking the eight wickets they need tomorrow even if they have to be patient.

  6. Close of play at Leicesterpublished at 18:35 BST 14 June

    Leics 187 & 326-7 (f/o) v Essex 401

Charlie Bennett runs in for the final over of an absorbing day.

Tom Scriven drops the fourth ball just in front of short leg who takes it on the bounce as he sees out a maiden.

Lewis Hill has played a blinder and goes to stumps unbeaten on 64 from 214 balls.

Leicestershire have showed plenty of fight and application although Essex will remain favourites as they start the final day.

Resuming on 51-0, Foxes have put on 275 runs today for the loss of seven wickets and lead by 112.

  7. Close of play at Trent Bridgepublished at 18:31 BST 14 June

    Notts 193 & 47-3 v Somerset 310 & 355-7 dec - Notts require 426 more runs to win

Thomas Rew celebrates his 127 not out with his bat raisedImage source, Shutterstock

Nottinghamshire will either have to chase down 473 or bat until the close of play on day four to avoid their first County Championship defeat since May 2025.

It would also be a first home defeat in red-ball cricket for Notts for more than two years if Somerset can take the remaining seven wickets on Monday.

The last time Notts lost at Trent Bridge was in May 2024 to Hampshire and their title defence could well be under some threat.

Thomas Rew will rightly steal all the headlines today for his maiden century, finishing on 127 not out to help Somerset amass their mammoth lead in just his second first-class game for the club.

It has been an excellent day for the visitors.

    A big final day incoming.

  8. Postpublished at 18:30 BST 14 June

    Northants 465 v Gloucs 268 & 254-7 (f/o)

Liam Guthrie walks back to his mark like a man who has put in a shift.

His run-up remains full of vigour as Northants look to prise out another wicket before the close.

James Bracey remains unmoved and pulls a short ball in front of square for a couple which takes him to 73 and past his first-innings score.

    Three overs to go.

  9. Postpublished at 18:27 BST 14 June

    Leics 187 & 324-7 (f/o) v Essex 401

Tom Scriven almost pays the price for a loose shot to his first ball.

He then survives a big appeal for leg before after Charlie Bennet arrows one on to his front pad. Height may have saved him.

Two overs to go. The lead is 110.

    Lategan c Helm b Gohar 15 (Worc 265 & 28-2 v Middx 339 & 283-6)

Leus du Plooy can do nothing wrong today.

He brings on spinner Zafar Gohar for one over near the close and it pays off.

A ball lifts on Dan Lategan and he steers it high to slip where Tom Helm stretches to take the catch.

    Hutton lbw b Leach 6 (Notts 47-3 - target 473)

Somerset have a third wicket in the penultimate over of the day!

Jack Leach gets one to pitch on middle and straighten up to Brett Hutton and that looks pretty out.

The nightwatchman is gone and batter Joe Clarke will come out for Notts for the final over of day three.

  12. Close of play at Scarboroughpublished at 18:23 BST 14 June

    Warwickshire 263 & 44-1 v Yorkshire 469 & 246-6 dec

Getting the wicket of Rob Yates before the close feels significant for Yorkshire. Not much had happened up to then after the declaration.

Warwickshire bowled a lot better in the second innings and had some success in holding Yorkshire back.

But Will Luxton, Jonny Bairstow and George Hill all got into the sixties and Bairstow was eventually able to declare and set an improbable target of 453 to win.

If Warwickshire get there it would be a county record but more realistically they have to bat all day tomorrow to earn the draw.

Yorkshire may have to be patient but they'll back themselves to get the nine wickets they need.

    B Green lbw b Bennett 29 (Leics 187 & 324-7 (f/o) v Essex 401)

Big breakthrough late on day three!

The ball after the 50 partnership, Charlie Bennett pitches one up to Ben Green.

Green plays across the line to a ball which keeps a little low and hits him on the back pad. Gone.

Tom Scriven is in and we have 16 legal balls remaining.

    Leics 187 & 324-6 (f/o) v Essex 401

After the 90-run sixth-wicket stand was broken, Ben Green (29*) and Lewis Hill (63*) have maintained the momentum.

Hill pushes a single into the offside to bring up the fifty partnership for the seventh wicket, off 108 balls.

Having coughed up a 214-run deficit on first innings 24 hours ago, the hosts now lead by 110 with four wickets still intact.

    Notts 47-2 - target 473

Spinner Jack Leach is into the bowling attack for Somerset.

He's zoning in on middle and leg stump but the fourth delivery flicks off Brett Hutton's pads and finds the gap between wicketkeeper and leg slip to run away for four leg-byes.

Three more overs to go in this evening session.

What this Sussex team are achieving is quite remarkable. With all the background noise about the financial situation, no Archer or Robinson and Crocombe taken away half way through a Championship game, the players deserve full credit for a fine display at Hove.

    Notts 42-2 - target 473

Brett Hutton is in for Notts on nightwatch duty and he's picked himself up a nice four down to long leg from Craig Overton, whose line just strayed there.

    Yates c Bess b Hill 20 (Warwickshire 263 & 38-1 v Yorkshire 469 & 246-6 dec)

With 13 balls left in the day Yorkshire get the breakthrough.

Rob Yates, who resisted well in the first innings, edges low to Dom Bess at slip.

That'll make Yorkshire feel a good deal better. Nine more wickets needed for victory.

Ethan Bamber comes out as night watcher.

  20. Five overs to go at Scarboroughpublished at 18:09 BST 14 June

    Warwickshire 263 & 38-0 v Yorkshire 469 & 246-6 dec

Not much has happened for the Yorkshire bowlers in the ten overs so far.

Rob Yates and Alex Davies have looked pretty comfortable but they still have five overs to get through to the close.

And then of course Yorkshire will have all day tomorrow to try to bowl the Bears out.
