Alex Scott is a former professional footballer turned broadcaster. She was born Poplar in 1984 and showed footballing talent early on in her life. At the age of just 8 she was selected by Arsenal’s academy, and would later break into the first team aged only 18. She had three spells with The Gunners, with interludes at Birmingham City, and the Boston Breakers. With Arsenal she won six Premier Leagues, seven FA Cups, and was a key a figure in Arsenal’s successful 2006-07 quadruple season, which culminated in an historic Champions League victory. At international level, she made 140 appearances for the Lionesses, and represented Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics in London. After retirement in 2018, Alex Scott made a successful transition into punditry and TV presenting. Amongst others, she co-presents The One Show, is co-host of the annual Sports Personality of the Year ceremony, and is the main presenter of Football Focus.
