The county will be split in to the 'industrial north' and 'rural south' with the creation of two new unitary authorities, replacing the current County Council and Borough Councils.
The county will be split in to the 'industrial north' and 'rural south' with the creation of two new unitary authorities, replacing the current County Council and six Borough Councils.
In the biggest shake-up of Worcestershire's local bodies since 1974, when the county was merged with Herefordshire, a North Worcestershire council will cover Redditch, Bromsgrove and the Wyre Forest. A South Worcester authority will provide services for Worcester, Malvern and Wychavon.
The shift in how councils are organised is due to come in to effect in 2028.
