Made of Sheffield

Sheffield is home to the Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, the Human League and many more. Emily Pilbeam meets Sheffield hero Jon McClure of Reverend and the Makers at Sidney and Matilda's.

Jon McClure of Reverend and the Makers is unashamedly beating the drum for his hometown of Sheffield. He's even taken on the role of Chairman of the oldest football club in the world, Sheffield FC. The steel city has produced many musical legends from the Arctic Monkeys, Richard Hawley and Pulp to the Human League, Warp Records and Self Esteem. There must be something in the water. Behind these heroes from the city are the people who run the clubs and venues. Emily meets Mark Riddington from the venue Sidney and Matilda to find out why Sheffield is a melting pot for music and creatives to thrive in.

Produced by True Thought Productions for BBC Radio 6 Music Indie Forever.
