Petrol Prices, Music Festivals, Access to Cash

The breakdown of the temporary ceasefire in the war with Iran is already being reflected at the petrol pumps. Filling up a car costs around 20p per litre more than before the war started in February, and there is evidence that the elevated prices of the last few months are already changing consumer behaviour. The Driving Instructors Association say almost half of motorists are driving less as a direct result of higher fuel costs and recent data from AutoTrader shows that an increasing number of people are looking to buy electric vehicles.

Some smaller music festivals have had to cancel this summer, including the Heritage Live events that were due to take place at country estates across the country in the coming weeks. The cancellation has left many customers uncertain about whether they will receive a full refund. We’ll discuss what your rights are and why its so difficult for smaller festivals right now.

There are around 11,500 post offices across the UK, and as banks close they have become one of the easiest ways for people to access cash. However, a re-evaluation of business rates means some branches could be facing a fourfold increase in the amount of money they must pay, which is threatening their future. We’ll hear from a village that is taking matters into their own hands and bringing the local post office under community ownership.
