50th Birthday Bash
Kate Molleson is joined by three composers who were all born on the same day in 1976: Øyvind Torvund, Cassandra Miller and David Fennessy.
Next Thursday marks the 50th birthday of no less than three of the new music world's leading composers: Øyvind Torvund (Norway), Cassandra Miller (Canada) and David Fennessy (Ireland), all born on 23rd July 1976. To celebrate and reflect on this remarkable new music coincidence, Kate Molleson brings the three of them together to compare notes on their musical and personal journeys that have led them to where they are today. Along the way, we'll hear two works by each composer in a wide-ranging sequence encompassing orchestral, electronic, vocal, chamber and solo writing.
Music featured:
Øyvind Torvund: The Exotica Album (excerpts); A Walk into the Future
Cassandra Miller: La Donna; Guide
David Fennessy: Trio No. 2 (In memoriam Spencer Boney); The Room is a Resonator
