She is the author of almost thirty books for children and young adults including the internationally best-selling series about half-mermaid Emily Windsnap, which has sold over five million copies worldwide. Liz’s more recent novel, When the World Was Ours, has won over twenty awards in several countries, and is studied on the exam syllabus in Germany. The book was inspired by Liz’s father’s childhood escape from the Nazis during the Second World War. Her other WW2 book, Code Name Kingfisher, features two sisters in the Dutch Resistance and has also won several awards, including the Historical Association’s Young Quills award.
